How does it work?

You provide us with information about yourself and the person you care for. The information you supply on the form will be treated as confidential and can only be accessed by  appropriate staff within Devon Carers and at the Alert Card call centre in case of an emergency. You will be asked to provide contact details for up to three people who can take your place in an emergency, making sure that they are aware and happy to do this and that they know what to do to help the person you care for. We also suggest that you keep a regularly updated contingency plan, which records the conditions and medication currently being taken by the person you care for.

Will I have to pay?

No. We provide the service free of charge

How do I use the card?

Please keep your Alert Card in a safe but accessible place – your purse or wallet is ideal. It is important that it can be found quickly.  If you are incapacitated the emergency services, or any other person with you, can phone the number on the front of the Alert Card and activate the service.
