We are busy preparing (again!) for #CarersWeek! Due to the current COVID-19 situation we are unable to bring you our original planned programme of localised carer events, so instead we are going online!
We will publish the week’s timetable soon but rest assured it will be full of online events from virtual garden tours, question of sport quiz, carer’s cookbook, arts and crafts workshops, pampering activities, web based art gallery, bike maintenance, yoga and mindfulness sessions, positive poetry and pledging to walk a mile with a smile, plus a few more surprises!
But we need your help!
We will reveal all later, but we are keen to receive more of your #StayAtHomeActivities which we have been posting on Facebook and Twitter for you. From photos of your beautiful gardens, revived hobbies, creative crafts, amazing artwork to scrumptious recipes and positive poetry from a carers perspective, we would like to see them all!
If you are happy for us to display your photos, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org (noting your first name only and home town so we can share activities across Devon). Due to GDPR guidelines, do not send photos with people in, just your activities! Please note by sending your photos in you are consenting to them being used on our social media and websites (and our partners Westbank and Devon County Council)
Due to the current COVID-19 situation we and our partners will be running some of our online activities on video conferencing apps such as Zoom. These will require you to download the Zoom app, receive the logon details via your email address and to be a registered carer on our Devon Carers database.
We are very conscious of keeping you safe online and will follow the latest guidelines when setting up activity ‘meetings’. If you are unsure or concerned about possible risks (as there are with all online apps) please visit our webpage with helpful video conferencing guidance: www.devoncarers.org.uk/help-during-coronavirus-staying-safe-in-online-video-calls/
If you need assistance with setting up the app on your mobile, tablet or laptop then please do contact us well in advance and we may be able to help you.
We look forward to bringing you more information soon!
